There are a million ‘ultimate prompt’ lists out there and most feel like filler. I’d rather hear from real people here – what’s the one habit or phrasing change that genuinely improved your results the most?
Telling it what NOT to do. I add a line like ‘avoid buzzwords, no em-dashes, don’t start sentences with However.’ Constraints shape the output more than fancy instructions. My writing stopped sounding AI-ish the day I started listing my pet peeves.
Oh that’s smart. I’ve been trying to describe the perfect answer and it never lands. Listing what I hate seems way easier.
For me it was asking it to interview me first. I say ‘ask me 5 questions before you write anything.’ It surfaces stuff I forgot to mention and the final draft needs way less editing. Cut my rewrite time in half easily.
