I’ve landed a couple of gigs writing social captions and cleaning up resumes, but I’m totally guessing on price. I don’t want to charge $5 and burn out, or quote $200 and get laughed at. How did you all figure out what to charge?
Price the outcome, not your time. A resume that lands interviews is worth $75-150 to someone job hunting, and it takes me 30 minutes. When I charged ‘per hour’ I made pennies. When I sold ‘a resume that gets callbacks’ the number went up and clients didn’t blink. Never mention how fast AI makes it.
The mindset shift makes sense but I’m scared to say a bigger number out loud. Did you lose clients when you raised prices?
Umar I raised my caption package from $40 to $90 and lost exactly zero clients – the ones who valued it stayed and the tire-kickers left, which was a relief. Test it with your next new lead, not your existing ones. You’ll be shocked what people pay when you sound confident.
