I’m just getting started and wondering if I should pay for the Plus plan right away or if the free version is enough to learn on. What did you all do?

Start free. Seriously — the free tiers are plenty to learn the fundamentals. Only upgrade once you hit a specific wall (need more usage, a specific feature, longer context). No reason to pay before you know what you actually need.

Agreed. I’d add: try the free versions of Claude and Gemini too before paying for anything. They each feel a little different and it’s free to find your favorite.
